Cursore (2013-2015) is an off-camera project made with the technique of the screenshot which is inspired by Luigi Ghirri's series "Atlante".
The author browses several map websites searching for a new point of view on Italy, on the world and on the sky. A new way to explore the world and let the imagination run free.
In this series of images the real and the artificial entwine and integrate.
The technique of the screenshot leads to a reflection on the evolution of the medium, of vision and the infinite extension of the fields of possible experiences brought by the internet.
By means of this technique the author deepens his personal research on the reproducibility of images and technological unconsciousness.
In his photos of the series “Atlante” Luigi Ghirri gets very close up to the Atlas' paper to show the halftone dots, likewise here the matter is shown by the enlargement of the pixels and by exposing the artefacts of digital photography.
The first series of images studies an archipelago in front of Dubai, The World Islands. A very interesting place because all these small islands are man-made, entirely built by digging up the sand from the sea, and because at this time most of them are still uninhabited. The architects' idea was to re-create a miniature world by arranging the islands accordingly. The artificiality of this place is amplified if we observe it on the internet, in fact monuments and landscapes from far away places i.e. in Europe are geotagged here probably because of their toponyms.
It's also interesting to observe as some of the islands have changed name in the course of the years. On the first picture of the project which dates back to 2013 you can see in fact two islands, “France” and “Italy”. The second picture of the project (2015) shows the same two islands again, but this time you can read “Spain” instead of "Italy". For some reason it was decided to rearrange the position of "Italy" in this giant game of "Risk" made up of sand and see.
The leitmotiv of the research on the sky maps is instead the fascination of telescopic photography and the graphical representation of the celestial bodies.

Le immagini delicate e i molteplici segni, le scritture che troviamo fin da bambini sulle pagine dell’atlante rappresentano il sogno, il desiderio di conoscere, l’istinto di esplorare il mondo, il viaggio come idea stessa della vita, la meraviglia del pensiero e lo stupore dell’arte.

Cursore (2013-2015) è un progetto off-camera realizzato con la tecnica dello screenshot su ispirazione della serie "Atlante" di Luigi Ghirri.
L’autore sfoglia i vari siti di mappe online alla ricerca di un nuovo punto di vista sull’Italia, sul mondo e sul cielo. Un nuovo modo di esplorare il mondo e far correre l'immaginazione.
In questa serie di immagini il reale e l'artificiale si intersecano e integrano.
La tecnica dello screenshot porta a una riflessione sull’evoluzione del mezzo, della visione e dell’estensione infinita del campo delle esperienze possibili rappresentata da internet.
Attraverso questa tecnica l’autore prosegue la sua personale ricerca sul tema della riproducibilità delle immagini e dell’inconscio tecnologico.
Analogamente a Luigi Ghirri, che nelle fotografie della serie “Atlante” rende evidente il retino, qui si riscopre la materia ingrandendo i pixel e sottolineando gli artefatti della fotografia digitale.
In una prima serie di immagini viene preso in esame un arcipelago al largo di Dubai, The World Islands. Un luogo interessante in quanto le piccole isole che lo compongono sono artificiali, costruite interamente con la sabbia rastrellata dal fondale marino e attualmente ancora quasi tutte disabitate. L’idea dei progettisti era quella di ricreare attraverso la disposizione delle isole un mondo in miniatura. L’artificialità del luogo è amplificata quando si passa a osservarlo da internet perché vi appaiono aggregate immagini di monumenti e paesaggi del Vecchio Continente, probabilmente richiamate dai relativi toponimi. E’ interessante notare inoltre come alcune isole siano state ribattezzate nell’arco degli anni. Nella prima immagine del progetto risalente al 2013 si notano infatti due isole chiamate “France” e “Italy”. Nella seconda immagine risalente al 2015, ora in corrispondenza delle stesse isole si legge invece “France” e “Spain”. Per qualche motivo è stato deciso di riposizionare l’Italia all’interno di questo Risiko gigante fatto di mare e sabbia.
Il leitmotiv della ricerca attorno alle mappe del cielo è da ricercarsi invece nell'estrema e appagante fascinazione suscitata dalla fotografia telescopica degli astri e dalla loro rappresentazione grafica.
